It appears that there are a lot of dvdrw reviews coming out. These will likely be the fastest of the breed, before Blu-Ray and HD-DVD take over in the fall. Get one while you can, maybe not this one though.
Let us summarize the most important positive and negative points below:
The main positive points: This drive is a very good audio ripper. It has good support for 16x media. It supports 8x DVD+RW and 6x DVD-RW media with excellent writing quality. The drive supports writing DVD+R9 media at 4x and produces good to excellent writing quality. Shows good 8x DVD+/-R write quality.
The main negative points: The drive needs improvement on 16x DVD±R write quality. A very disappointing CD writer that produces C2 errors on many discs we wrote. It is a slow reader on re-writable and double layer media.
To sum it all up, this is what we would say: “Overall this drive is an improvement over earlier Lite-On based drives. It shows marked improvement in DVD-R/RW writing quality. However it still disappoints for 16x writing quality and the broken CD writing. We wouldn’t recommend this as an all in one drive.”
